Should you “get ready” to transfer points to Delta Air Lines from Membership Rewards?

Over the past few years Delta has had some sweet deals when it comes to Membership Rewards from American Express. I have taken advantage of these promo’s for both my wife & I (I even sent 50k to a friend) and have enjoyed the FREE bonus MQM’s and Skymiles.
I was able to do this because I had points to use in my Membership Rewards accounts. So even though the new bonus for the AMEX Premier Rewards GOLD card of 25,000 may not sound like a home run in today’s market, with no 1st year fee, and 3x points for airline tickets and 2x points for gas, if you are going to do a card churn soon this should be a card to be considered in your mix!

Will Delta have another transfer bonus deal this year? Who knows? The last rounds had a 50k minimum transfer to get 25,000 MQM’s and then the subsequent deal was moved to 100k to get the same MQM bonus. Either way, it is better to ALREADY have the points in your account so when and if the offer does happen, you can plan your next move.

  1. Hi – I noticed on you jpg that you got 2 MQM postings. I thought Delta would only give the 25k MQMs only once.

I did the 50K transfer in 2010 – – is it possible to get the MQM bonus again?

    Thanks

  2. Rene Congrats on that creditscore. looks like more free miles in your future. And that 741 will get you cards just as my recent 990 score from Experian and and the Vantage score scale will.
Our readers need to realize that once over the magic number of 700 on the FICO style scale or 800 on the Vantagescore scale, it makes no difference how high the number. They are all good, but I gotta tell you I was shocked when mine came up as Perfect with 18 inquiries in the last two years.

Pay them ontime and fly for free

  3. What do you think of Credit Sesame and Credit Karma generally? I’ve been reluctant to use them because I hate putting my SS# out there when I don’t have to.

  4. I already have that card – which I got during that fiasco when people thought they were getting 100s of thousands of points – but thanks, and I love reading your blog, and I really need an ipad case.
